What a scoop! sweet-toothed Tamworth pupils enjoyed a refreshing treat in the sun last week when their headteacher dished out ice-creams and lollies – from his family campervan.

Coton Green Primary School children were delighted when headteacher Richard Osborne sprinkled some magic into break time by pulling his VW Camper onto the playground and serving up free ice-treats for all.

The chilled headteacher swapped his office for an ice-cream van and whipped up much surprise and delight by handing out lollies bought from the local ASDA store.

Richard said:

It’s been lovely to welcome more children back into school. The weather’s been scorching and what better way to enjoy some fun in the sun than with ice-creams and lollies? My campervan is a real hit with my own family and I thought it would be great to convert it into an ice-cream truck for the day and give children and colleagues a treat to remember.”

He added:

It was a joy to see the children’s faces light up when they saw the van. I enjoyed being an ice-cream man for the morning and bringing that touch of magic to everybody’s day. We all treasure such experiences and smiles and laughter are the sweetest reward of all.”

Commenting on the surprise, a reception pupil said:

Mr Osborne is magic! A headteacher and an ice-cream man!”
