The Teaching Schools Council (TSC) is delighted to announce the appointment of Melanie Renowden and Thora Eberts to support the next stage of the Council’s development.

Melanie joins TSC from the charity ‘Bite Back 2030’ having formerly been Deputy CEO and acting CEO at Ambition Institute. Melanie takes up the post of Senior Capacity Improvement Advisor. Thora joins TSC from Ark Curriculum Plus, having led a number of high-profile projects for a variety of education partners. Thora takes the role of Capacity Improvement Advisor.

Melanie and Thora are joining the TSC at an exciting stage in its development and at a time when new policy work around teacher development is being implemented. These reforms coincide with existing plans to replace the large number of Teaching Schools with a much smaller number of higher capacity Teaching School Hubs (TSHs). Melanie and Thora’s roles will create additional strategic and operational capacity for the TSC, supporting the recent policy reforms and providing direct support to the newly designated Teaching School Hubs in their vital role as the delivery backbone of teacher development.

Chair of the Teaching Schools Council, and CEO of the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership, Richard Gill CBE (pictured below), said:

“I am so pleased to secure the services of Melanie and Thora following our recent recruitment process. Melanie and Thora bring with them quality experience and skills that will enhance our current work and provide additional capacity to support the implementation of the new Teaching School Hubs.”

Melanie (pictured above) said:

I’m delighted to have the opportunity to work with the TSC, the new Teaching School Hubs and the wider system to realise the potential of the educator development reforms.  The Hubs will provide the vital national infrastructure to ensure these reforms benefit every teacher and I am looking forward to helping set them up for success.”

Thora (pictured above) added:

“I feel immensely privileged to be joining the TSC at such an exciting moment in time, and look forward to working closely with the newly designated Teaching Schools Hubs to develop a robust training and professional development offer to support them in developing capacity in the system.”

Melanie and Thora start their new roles in January 2021.
