Caring staff at Scotch Orchard Primary School received a wonderful surprise on Monday morning when they discovered their school gates had been lovingly decorated with inspirational messages of thanks and support from children.

Parents and pupils had secretly decorated the school gates with heart-warming pictures and messages for the teaching and support staff over the weekend, ready to be discovered on Monday morning.

The school, which is part of the respected Arthur Terry Learning Partnership (ATLP), was adorned with colourful heartfelt words and images, as part of a community project nicknamed ‘He-art Attack’. Messages included ‘We miss you’ and ‘Thank you for being an amazing teacher’.

Laura Braybrooke, Scotch Orchard’s deputy headteacher, said:

“It was overwhelming to drive up to the Scotch Orchard gates and see all the beautiful messages our community have left for the school.“This little act of kindness has touched all of our staff, who are working tirelessly to support our families both in school and at home during these challenging times. Our school motto is ‘Caring, Believing and Achieving’ and our community have proved that they are just that. “
