Louie is boxing clever in following his reporting dreams

The Coleshill School student Louie Leeson is making a name for himself in the world of boxing after combining his passion for the sport with his other favourite hobby of reporting.

Over time, the 15-year-old has established connections in the boxing and mixed martial arts (MMA) world and, as his reputation has grown, he has garnered the great respect of numerous famous sporting names he has interviewed.

Such is his progress that Louie, who has also done some camera work for a boxing trainer with media connections, now has sizeable followings on Instagram and TikTok – including 13,000 followers on the latter – his main platform.

Among the stars he has met, Louie has interviewed renowned boxing promoter Frank Warren, boxers Liam Smith (former world light-middleweight champion) and Frazer Clarke (Olympic bronze medallist), MMA and Ultimate Fighting Championship ace Darren Till and Ben Shalom (founder and owner of boxing promotional company BOXXER).

Most recently, Louie was thrilled to meet and interview boxing and darts promoter Eddie Hearn, who chatted with his interviewer about British boxing stars Anthony Joshua, Galal Yafai and Dave Allen.

His reach has grown further than the ring though, as Louie has also posed the questions to former Birmingham City footballer Troy Deeney and Peter Andre!

Louie’s passion for combat sport came from spending time watching Misfits Boxing – a crossover boxing promotion founded by English influencer and professional boxer KSI. He went to watch a fight as a birthday treat and from that moment he was hooked.

Louie, whose ambition is to become a boxing presenter, had some words of advice for his peers – regardless of what career or hobby path they may choose to take.

Year 10 student Louie, who goes by the name of ‘Louie the Reporter’, revealed what has been his favourite interview so far.

He said: “It was great chatting with Don Charles, the trainer of Britain’s IBF world heavyweight boxing champion Daniel Dubois. Don was really chatty and had a lot of time for me.

“It was amazing to be at Wembley Stadium for such a big press conference ahead of Dubois fighting Oleksandr Usyk on July 19 for the undisputed heavyweight title.”
