In a classical of their own! Coventry students take a bow at orchestral music event
5 October 2022
Budding musicians at West Coventry Academy had the opportunity to play a range of orchestral instruments last week when the school teamed up with Coventry Music Service for a truly immersive event.
All year 7s took part in an orchestral instrument immersion day, hosted by instrumental tutors from Coventry Music Service.
Students from across the year group had a fantastic opportunity to play instruments from the woodwind, brass and string families.
Daniel Goodier, a Performance Art teacher at West Coventry Academy, which is part of the respected Arthur Terry Learning Partnership (ATLP), said: “It was great to see the excitement and curiosity as the children stepped out of their comfort zones, trying something new.
“Our students had a great time and really enjoyed experimenting with the different instruments and sounds. They all started the school last month and are settling in brilliantly.
“This event gave them an opportunity to bond with other year 7s in a relaxing and fun environment, while learning all about the world of orchestral music. We would like to thank West Coventry Music Service for its continued support.”
Coventry Music Service supplies all of West Coventry Academy’s instrument lessons, including voice, piano, guitar, drums, brass, woodwind and strings. All students will have the opportunity to have free music lessons with a borrowed instrument between now and the end of the year.
