WCA students will say farewell to old building in style

The last ever prom to be held in West Coventry Academy’s old building will be made even more memorable thanks to a donation from the company building the school’s state-of-the-art new home.
The final Year 11 prom to be held at the old Tile Hill Wood site will be held on Friday, June 30. The impressive new building is then set to be completed in time for next year’s event.
Life at the academy, which is part of the respected Arthur Terry Learning Partnership, is due to be transformed when the multi-million rebuild is completed in the next few months by contractors Bowmer + Kirkland.
The contractors ensured that Year 11 students will get to say farewell to the old building in style by donating £500 to the school’s prom fund.
Helen Bedford, the firm’s Social Value Manager, and John Spencer, Site Manager, had a chance to meet Head Students Kaycee and Daniel and present them with the generous contribution.
Helen and John were told about how the school theatre is transformed for the event and said they hoped the contribution would support in providing a great experience for Year 11 students.
Teacher Mrs Karron Lane said: “As an ex-student and now a member of staff at WCA, as much as it’s sad to say goodbye to the old site of Tile Hill Wood, which holds so many memories, it’s going to be an amazing opportunity over in our new building to continue serving the community.
“This really kind donation from Bowmer + Kirkland has ensured that Year 11 can say goodbye to WCA with the final ever event being held here.”
Headteacher Mrs Ana Neofitou added: “We are very grateful to Bowmer + Kirkland for this generous donation. Throughout the build of our new site, the company has engaged with us and the school community, including getting involved with careers events.”
