Creative pupils at ATLP’s William MacGregor primary school are one happy band.

Year 6 children have been learning a variety of brass instruments after developing skills last year in drumming. In year 5, pupils are having great fun learning to master the ukulele, with some incredible results.

The young musicians even have the opportunity to take the instruments home and practise their group pieces.

In addition to individual lessons, children also take part in weekly ‘Rock Steady’ sessions, learning a variety of instruments, which they perform in their very own rock band.

Natalie Jones, deputy headteacher at William MacGregor School, which is part of the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership, said: “Music continues to be a high priority at William MacGregor, with children developing their musical skills in many ways.

“It’s been a challenging year, and we are so pleased that music is continuing to play a key role in children’s lives and bringing joy to so many. Pupils are expressing themselves through a variety of instruments. They are learning, exploring, and having lots of fun in the process. It’s truly lovely to hear them at play and we’re sure we have some rock stars in the making!”
