What is the recruitment process?

To apply for a vacancy at the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership you will need to complete an application form online. After the closing date has passed, your application will go through a shortlisting process. If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to attend an interview which may include an assessment. If you are successful following interview you will be notified and provided with a conditional offer of employment. Once we have completed and received satisfactory recruitment checks, we will provide you with a start date.

When will I hear back regarding my application?

Do you offer part time or flexible working?

Yes! Wherever possible, we are happy to discuss a wide range of flexible working options to suit your needs. Many of our staff already benefit from job shares, part time hours, working term time only and hybrid working.

What recruitment checks do you undertake?

In line with safer recruitment guidelines, published in Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023, we will conduct the following pre-employment checks:

  • ID check
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Medical fitness check
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Verify professional qualifications
  • Employment references
  • Online search
  • Prohibition check (if relevant to role)
  • Section 128 check (if relevant to role)

Further checks may be required to verify overseas employment and qualifications.

I am an overseas teacher, can I apply?

You will be required to have qualified teacher status (QTS) to teach in England, in order to work for us. For details of how to apply for QTS to teach in England, please visit the .gov link below.

What is the talent pool?

If you are unsuccessful for a role with us, you can choose to join our talent pool to express an interest in future positions. You will be able to select this option during your application form, or you can notify the recruitment team.

What should I bring with me to the interview?

It is essential that thorough checks are carried out at the interview stage to verify your eligibility to work, check your identity and undertake a Disclosure and Barring Check, should you be successful at interview.

Below is a list of acceptable documents we can use to carry out the checks:

  • UK or Irish Passport or passport card
  • Photo driving licence or old style driving licence (with counterpart licence)
  • Full or short original birth certificate
  • Marriage certificate or decree absolute if applicable
  • Original Qualification Certificates
  • P45/P60/National Insurance card
  • Frontier Worker Permit
  • Documents issued by the Crown Dependencies EU Settlement Schemes, when verified by the relevant Home Office checking service
  • Certificate of Application or document issued by the UK, Jersey or Guernsey EU Settlement Schemes, confirming an application made by the 30 June deadline, when verified by the relevant Home Office checking service.

We also require at least 2 forms of identification, dated within the last 3 months to verify your address. These must be from the following list:

  • credit card statement
  • bank/building Society statement or account opening letter
  • utility bill
  • mortgage/insurance/Council Tax statement (these can be dated within last 12 months)

What does a conditional offer of employment mean?

A conditional offer of employment is a provisional offer, subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks. Once all the checks have been completed we will provide you with an unconditional offer of employment and an official start date.
